FIAT is expanding its policy of regular regional seminars. It is not always possible for everyone who would like to, to attend the main world conference; and sometimes there is a need to focus on local issues in more detail. As a result FIAT is intending to introduce more regional audiovisual archive seminars and to sustain, on an annual basis those, such as the very successful Asian seminar. This was first established by FIAT and INA with the support of the Asian Broadcasting Union ( ABU) and the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development ( AIBD) in Beijing in 2005. This year the hosts, NHK, accommodated over 130 delegates from Japan, Korea, Cambodia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia and Russia; as well as speakers from Holland, France and the UK. » More
