Since its establishment in 1977, FIAT/IFTA has made a significant contribution
to the improving professional archive standards and working practices on an
international level.
Membership categories
The Association is made up of Full, Associated, Supporting and Honorary Members.
Full members
Full Members must be Archive Services of TV and Radio or TV only organisations
or TV and Radio or TV only Production Companies, maintaining archives of their
own programmes, or those authorised by TV and Radio or TV only organisations
or national governments to maintain archives of TV and Radio or TV only programmes
for cultural or other reasons. An organisation being a Full Member receives
one membership but may be represented by different individuals belonging to
that organisation.

Associate members
Associated Members may be organisations or individuals and will only have
the right to receive the regular communications and publications issued by
the Association as well as to participate in the meetings.

Supporting members
Supporting Members are organisations related to the television and radio industries who wish to express their support of television and radio archives by way of an annual donation in excess of the fees for Full Members.

Procedure
In order to become a member, it is necessary to apply for membership and to
accept the Statutes in force. The
applications are submitted to the decision of FIATs Executive Council.
The applicant will then receive an invoice, but he will become a member after
his payment is received. His membership will be confirmed by letter or e-mail
and he will receive the passwords for the website.
As from 1st April 2003, all new members will pay a pro rata sum when they
join, according to the time of the year. For instance, if they join after March,
they will pay 75% of the yearly rate, after June 50% and after September 25%.
