Second Asian seminar on audiovisual archives
"Building up a national audiovisual memory : a day after day challenge"

Phnom Penh, 4th - 6th December 2006

Announcement

Following the first Asian seminar on audiovisual archives organized in Beijing in October 2005, FIAT/IFTA, the Institut national de l'audiovisuel, AIBD, the Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development, and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs / French Embassy in Cambodia jointly organize a regional Seminar on audiovisual archives on 5th and 6th December 2006, in Phnom-Penh, Cambodia.

The seminar is hosted by the Ministry of Information, Kingdom of Cambodia.

The seminar will gather managers from national archives and broadcasting organizations from a range of Asian countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, China and Hong-Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri-Lanka, Timor Leste, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.

The seminar will be preceded, on December 4th, by the inauguration of Bophana, the Audiovisual resource center of Cambodia.

The seminar will address some of the issues related to the building up of a national audiovisual memory :

Working languages will be Khmer, English and French with simultaneous translation. Registration will be free of charge. Further information will be circulated in due time by the organisers.
