General Assembly 2004 and Extraordinary General Assembly Announcement

General Assembly announcement

In accordance with the Statutes and on behalf of the President and Executive Council, it is hereby announced that the General Assembly of the International Federation of Television Archives (FIAT/IFTA) will take place on the morning of Tuesday 19th October in Paris, following the World Conference. The venue will be the Centre Pierre Sabbagh at INA premises (87 rue de Patay, 75013 Paris. Nearest metro station : Bibliothèque François Mitterrand - line 14). The agenda will be as stipulated in the Statutes. Any suggestions for additions to the agenda should be made in writing to the General Secretary.

Extraordinary General Assembly

The General Assembly will be preceded, on the same morning, by an Extraordinary General Assembly, convened by the Executive Council, to consider a proposed amendment to Article 4 of the Statutes. The proposed new wording of Article 4 is available on the website and constitutes the entire agenda of the Extraordinary Session. FIAT/IFTA members who wish other proposals for amendment of the Statutes to be considered at the Extraordinary General Assembly should contact the General Secretary before Wednesday 18th August. Any such proposals must be supported by one quarter of the Full Members of the Association and the proposed new wording of the Statutes communicated in writing.

Election of the President and of six Executive Council members

As always, the main business of the General Assembly will include the election of the President of the Federation and the election of six individuals from Full Member organisations to serve on the Executive Council. Members wishing to nominate themselves or others for any of these positions must do so by completing the relevant nomination form available on this website and sending it to the General Secretary. The closing time for nominations is 12.00 midday on the 18th October. Any nominations made after the 8th October must be handed to the General Secretary in person at the Conference. Updated lists of nominated candidates will be published on the website in advance of the General Assembly.

Election rules

Also available on the website are newly written election rules, which were discussed at last year's conference in Brussels and have been ratified by the Executive Council. Please note that the provision made in the final sentence of rule 2 cannot be applied at this year's election, as it is designed for future use.

Mandated vote form

The Statutes allow that any Full Member which will not be represented at the General Assembly may mandate another Full Member to cast its vote. A mandate form to pass your vote to another Full Member is available on this website and must be sent to the General Secretary before 08.30 on 19th October (or handed to him in person after 13th October). Please note that no Full Member may be mandated to cast the vote of more than one other Full Member and that this facility does not apply to the Extraordinary General Assembly.
