Training Commission

Objectives

To organise a flow of knowledge between developed, and developing TV archives in the world
To organise professional training of AV archivists, on international, global and regional seminars, workshops, by professional publications, by Internet or other methods and techniques
To identify training requirements by area/country.
Professional training should be realized on the regional principle through the world educational regional net.

Training Commission will consider and accept the established regional demands and needs, and refer them to Executive Council through its chair, who will, within available financial means and priorities, make decisions about recommending and financing professional training seminars, workshops and other activities.

In the realization of professional training it is necessary to collaborate with related professional organizations (continental and world organizations) wherever possible and perhaps to jointly finance educational projects.

Work on identifying the future educational requirements of TV Archive staff in the light of the changes in the work flow : more production, journalistic and marketing skills will be required in addition to archivist, librarian and documentalist ones
To develop training programmes in various sectors, such as preservation techniques and new digital technology.
Special attention should be given to the organization of web sites with contents about professional training of AV archivists. Above all, these sittes should be filled up with all the past professional training lectures at seminars and conferences.

Branko Bubenik

Born on 18.4.1940
Graduated from Technical Chemistry School, after studied Biochemistry
Graduated from Film, Theatre and TV Academy in Zagreb, with multivision triptiph experimental film project.
Worked 12 years as a journalist and cameraman-film reporter for TV Zagreb.
Since 1974 : Head of TV archive department in HRT (Croatian Radiotelevision).
Since 1974 : Established and led association of 8 radio and 8 televison stations in Yugoslavia.
1999 : "Doctor of science" in the field of information science, with doctoral dissertation "Archiving Audiovisual Documents and Changes in Television Technologies"
2000 : Got university degree "Docent", in the field of history of audiovisual technologies
Lecturing "Multimedia and digital archives" (Archivistics Stdies, Zagreb), "Media Technologies" and "Journalist Documentation" (Journalistic Studies)
Chairman of Training Commission and vice-president of the international organisation of TV archives FIAT/IFTA.
