TUNISIA: MONASTIR CITY ERTT/The Regional Tunisian Radio in Monastir City After having finished the FIAT/IFTA seminar in Tunis, I was officially invited to visit The Regional Tunisian Radio situated in Monastir City. The radio station is located in the center of the city. A nice city and a nice radio station. My contact person was Mr. Naim Sakli who had attended the seminar in Tunis. He has worked hard for about 10 years to set up a modern radio and music archive. The hospitality of the Radio station was great. We went to see the active staff and the different archive rooms of the station. No dust and air pollution. Nice and clean archive rooms with specially made shelves. I was invited to a meeting with the Directeur de Radio Monastir: Ali Rebaa . He was very interested in being informed about new archival systems and about FIAT/IFTA's contribution in making new information available for members worldwide. The talks were translated from English by Naim Sakli. French and Arabic are the two main languages in Tunisia. It was a friendly meeting with people who showed great interest in archival matters. The station had set up a local tv production. The programmes were forwarded ERTT in Tunis for transmissions It was nice for me to be together with dedicated archivists to talk about common problems and issues. Above all, it is important that the director of a local station understand the importance of setting up an audiovisual archive and to maintain the standard of the archive . ERTT should be proud of the regional station in the beautiful city of Monastir. The archive was a good example of how to maintain a high standard of your work. Good luck to both of you: Ali Rebaa and Naim Sakli! Tedd Johansen
