Back to the web!

After some turbulent weeks and many complications we have good news for our FIAT members:

First of all we are back on the web! You will find us at fiatifta.org and we hope that the communication between our members will be better than ever. Our new webmaster is Karl Erik Andersen and the editor will be the FIAT General Secretary Tedd Johansen. You will find the program of the London Conference in September 2001 as well as the report of the Vienna General Assembly on this web. There will also be links to the FIAT Board and all Commissions and hopefully a "chat corner" for all our members.

Further I can report that although there was an Archive Head change at TRT, the projected cooperation will continue as planned. We had a wonderfully hosted EC Meeting through TRT's Secretary General Ayhan Karapars and the new Head of Archives Mr. Turgay Cakimci. We decided to organise the next General Assembly in October 2002 in Antalya/Turkey.

And still more good news: the new "super commission" Metadata Management Commission (MMC) - which is in fact a combination of the former Documentation and Technical Commissions - has a Chair for at least 1 year: Henry Lindquist from YLE/Finland. He will replace Herbert Hayduck who is too busy with his ORF agendas to continue his work for FIAT.

Last, but not least, the program for London looks very attractive and the social events are more than attractive! Thanks to Steve Bryant and Sue Malden!

So I hope that all our members will join us in London and Antalya and also use the new web possibilities.

Best regards
Peter Dusek
FIAT President
