Ina (France)

Tales of a Festival : remembering Cannes in sound and picture

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the International Film Festival, Ina and the Cannes Festival have jointly launched a web site "Tales of a Festival : remembering Cannes in sound and picture". It displays some 1.500 documents organised in interactive modules that tell the best moments of this unique film festival : interactive fresco, front page, cinema notebooks, quiz, goodies, my video space.

There is a French and an English version of the web site :

Internet, a history in images / Internet, une histoire d'images

Paradoxically, the offer of images on the Internet is poor and even trash, whereas our archives are full of historical and cultural treasures.

This is the theme of a paper written by Emmanuel Hoog, which has been published in the French daily newspapers Le Monde, on 7 March 2007 and in the Dutch NCR Handelsblad, last April .

This should be a strong incentive to go on implementing our preservation and digitisation policies, to show our images, to provide easy access to them on the web, and to take part in the Archives at Risk project.

DR (Denmark)

DRTV move into the new building has been the major preoccupation of the archives - the move should take place in Nov 2006. DRTV is working with other major audiovisual archives in Denmark at a strategic level to develop ways of sharing national archive responsibility in a "virtual national audiovisual archive"

RAI (Italy)

RAI archive has now opened up access to its archive by the public in their 20 regional sites. This is access to both the catalogue and viewing images (24 megabits per sec). All of the RAI sites are linked. Following the celebration of 50 years of television in 2004 in Italy, RAI have produced a hard disc containing 380 hours of television material for use by students in Universities. A small access fee is charged.

RTE (Ireland)

RTE archive have been involved in AVID Interplay beta testing as a result the archive is becoming much more involved in managing data in the post production domain. The new Broadcasting Act in Ireland is expected to have impact on RTE's archive that might lead to RTE participating in a National virtual archive.

SWR (Germany)

SWR archive has been concentration on their rights management system to be demonstrated at the conference.
